Our thanks to Mrs Cochran (Teacher of Economics and Business) for her recount of this fantastic trip.
A Level pupils studying Business Studies enjoyed a truly informative and memorable day at Boden House, a British clothing retailer. We were generously hosted by Johnnie Boden, Helen Webb-Carter and members of the design and buying team.
The working atmosphere was so inspiring with friendly people, who are clearly industry specialists, showing a real focus on attention to detail. The Archive Floor was incredibly impressive, rows and rows of past season Boden swatches, styles and vintage pieces used for inspiration – a place to get lost in for hours feeding our imagination and creativity.
The day was well-structured and detailed, provoking lots of talking points and giving context to our syllabus, for example the use of the critical path in getting clothing styles to market in time for season. The marketing presentation was also really appreciated by the girls wishing to pursue fashion marketing, as it showed the process of turning a sales objective (swimwear sales) into a creative campaign.
