ISI Inspection Report – Excellence in Academic and Pastoral Provision

Downe House is regularly inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), a body approved by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills.

Pupils develop into young women with high levels of self-esteem, well prepared to face their future confidently and boldly.

The latest Independent Schools Inspectorate’s visit to Downe House took place in November 2024. The subsequent ISI report acknowledges the excellent work of the staff in fulfilling the School’s aims and the outstanding achievements of the pupils in academic studies and personal development.

Under the new ISI framework no overall ‘grade’ is given to Schools, but Downe House was found to have met all required standards, and the report recognises the School’s high standards of teaching and pastoral provision.

Headmistress, Mrs Emma McKendrick said, “This is an excellent Report of which we can all be very proud. Listening to the Inspectors’ feedback at the end of their visit was a real privilege: the team expressed a genuine appreciation of the work done to make this a very special place and an effective place of learning and personal development”
