On Thursday 14 March, seven of our budding musicians from the Upper Fifth to Upper Sixth had the very special opportunity to perform an afternoon music recital at the University Church in Oxford. Our thanks to Alice in the Lower Sixth (Year 12) for her report.
We arrived at the University Church in the morning and quickly got into rehearsals before the main event started at 1pm.
I started the concert off with a vocal performance of a Latin piece which is part of my diploma repertoire. I was followed by a beautiful performance on the piano by Olivia (Upper Sixth) who went on to win Berkshire Young Musician of the Year later that week!
Camilla (Upper Sixth) sang two German songs with her usual gorgeous tone and vibrato, and Alice (Upper Sixth) played harp as sensitively and delicately as ever, it was a truly ethereal performance.
Thalia (Upper Sixth), Sophia (Upper Sixth) and Angelina (Upper Fifth) all played their violins to perfection. Thalia played with her signature musicality and tone, and Sophia with her impeccable technicality and style.
Angelina concluded the wonderful concert by playing her violin with the character and stage presence for which she is known – it was brilliant!
Thank you so much to Mrs Norman (Principal Accompanist) for accompanying many of us, and for taking us on the trip.
