In this blog post, Mr Matt Godfrey (Deputy Head) introduces some of the guest speakers who will be speaking at our 2026 Academic Conference on how schools can best understand the needs and concerns of modern parents.
Mungo Dunnett is the Founder of Mungo Dunnett Associates, the leading strategic and research company working in the UK schools sector. Mungo has established an outstanding reputation for providing expertise and perspective on the strategic and commercial issues facing schools.
Mungo’s talk at our Conference is titled: The Cultural Problem: Getting Kids to be Kids.
Mungo says: “Parents vary in their backgrounds, their incomes, and their level of academic aspiration. But a common factor across parents, whether choosing state or private schooling, is that they all want their child to be happy. But often this doesn’t happen.”
Mungo will reflect on his years of research and experience and offer strategies for a positive way forward.
Cathy Ellott is the Head of Clapham & Streatham High School (SCHS), an all-girls day school in south London. A graduate in English from the University of Oxford, Cathy worked in a range of top schools before becoming Head of SCHS in September 2023.
Cathy says: “Part of the joy of being in schools is building connections not just with our students, but with their families too.
“As teachers and educators, we are so committed to the flourishing of our pupils, and no one cares more about this than their parents. When schools and families work together, we can form powerful partnerships which are fundamental to every thriving school.”
Cathy will draw on her background in boarding and her experience of London day schools to explore why a genuine sense of belonging is essential to building a successful school community. She will offer practical insights into how schools can build trust and foster a culture of partnership – and harness the value of a more connected, supportive school community.
Whether you are a school leader, classroom teacher, governor, or simply someone passionate about the future of education, this is an event not to be missed. Come and join us as we reflect on what should be preserved, what must evolve, and how we can work together to shape the schools of tomorrow.
We look forward to welcoming you on 17 June.
