Global Exchange to South Africa

During the summer holidays, Fifth Form girls, Phoebe and India went on a Global Schools’ Exchange trip to Herschel Girls School in Cape Town, South Africa and spent four weeks going to school as day girls and living with their host families.

Orchestral Fun Day

Now an established fixture in the musical year, the Prep Schools’ Orchestral Fun Day brought together over 200 young musicians from 20 prep schools with 75 girls from Downe House for an exciting day of music making.

The House Drama competition is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year combining as it does the opportunities for Sixth Form girls to write, produce and direct a play and the chance for the Lower and Upper School girls to act, sing and dance on stage.

Three Sixth Form girls, Emily, Sappho and Tosin, were selected for the highly competitive Yale Young Global Scholars’ (YYGS) Programme, an academic summer enrichment programme for outstanding high school students from around the world.

Global Exchange trip to India

Fifth Form girls were attracted to the unique sights and sounds of India when choosing a destination for their Global Schools’ Exchange trip during the summer holidays. Heloise and Louise chose to go to Mayo College Girls’ School which is located in Ajmer, one of the oldest cities in the north-western state of Rajhastan.
