Remove girl, Emily reports on the weekend,

On Saturday 23 November 2019, our U12 Biathlon team consisting of three Remove girls, Tilly, India and myself set off on what seemed like a never-ending journey up to Nottingham for the Biathlon Championships. As we arrived at the Harvey Hadden Sports Centre, there was a buzz in the atmosphere and although we all felt a little nervous, our minds were set on the race ahead of us.

First, we went to find the athletics track and then in a flash, we were back at our base getting ready to walk back to the track for the 800 metre run to begin. We all did amazingly well in the race and improved by over 8 seconds from the qualifying round and we felt that all our hard work over the past few months had paid off. Next up was the 50 metre swim and once again, we were all happy with our individual performances. Overall, Tilly came in 19th place, India was 37th and I was in 6th place. We were able to enter a team because all three of us had qualified and as a team, we were placed third – we were very happy with the results and super proud of ourselves!”

On Sunday 25 November, the U14 team consisting of Lower Fourth girls, Issy and Georgina participated in the U14 competition, successfully completing a 1600m run and a 100m swim. Both finished in very respectable placings with Issy in 11th place and Georgina in 33rd place. Well done to all the girls who took part!
