Our community shares certain attitudes and interests in common. Above all, our community is kind and caring and everyone involved in looking after you thinks and believes this. You also have the amazing opportunity to spend a term in the LIV (Year 8) in our beautiful Chateau Sauveterre in the South of France. This is arguably the most magical experience which will stay with you forever!

A Term in France

All the Lower Fourth girls at Downe House take part in the grand adventure of spending a term immersed in French culture and language at the 18th Century Chateau de Sauveterre, near Toulouse, France. Girls go with other members of their year group and a dedicated team of staff, and enjoy a full curriculum of Maths, English, History, Geography, Art, Cookery, Textiles, Music, and Drama all spoken in French! The term at Sauveterre is often the most memorable term of your time at Downe House, filled with plenty of ‘sorties’ (outings) and outdoor activities.

There’s no better way to develop independence, confidence and lifelong memories.

Competition!

Here at Downe House, we have lots of co-curricular activities to take part in. From film club to drama, horse-riding to astronomy, current affairs to the choir, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom and we encourage every girl to ‘have a go’ whatever their level of ability.

Can you show us your favourite hobby in a creative way?

We want to see your favourite ‘Downe’ time activity.

Show us this in any way you like. Maybe you could send us a drawing of your favourite musician? Perhaps you could do a collage of your most-read books? Can you create a poem about your most memorable sporting moment? Drama, dance, sport, music, charity – we’d love to see it all.

Submit your favourite ‘Downe’ Time activity via email to prepschoolsmailbox@downehouse.net – we can’t wait to see what you create.
