In the midst of their UK Concert tour, the 23-strong choir visited Downe House for an hour of choral singing with Polyphonix. After introductions and a warm-up session for all the choristers, Westover conductor and tour leader, Mr Bob Havery led the Glee Club choir in singing a beautiful set of pieces, including an American folksong and a spiritual. The day was a special treat for Westover girl, Sophia who is currently on a four-week exchange trip at Downe House and who joined in with the singing.
Polyphonix then took to the stage and entertained the audience with a selection of pieces which they would later sing at their Music Showcase Concert. The session finished with both choirs joining together to sing Jerusalem – a rousing finale!
Director of Music, Dr Charlotte Exon said,
What a wonderful opportunity for our choir to meet and sing with the Westover School Glee Club choir – both choirs excelled themselves and it was uplifting to see how the girls connected through their mutual love of music. Thank you to Bob and Bonnie Havery for bringing the choir to Downe House and we hope that they enjoy the rest of their UK tour.
The best way to find out more about Downe House is to experience it for yourself. Book a personal tour or join us at one of our Open Mornings, available throughout the year.
