Morning Programme
Our exceptional academic programme of study is designed to engage and excite young learners.
Your child will be taught by experienced and highly qualified teachers from Downe House School. Lessons are delivered through workshops, experiments and activities and will involve working as a team. This style of learning is fun and allows the students to collaborate and improve their communication skills.
Our programme of study includes the following sessions:
- English Language – targeted to your child’s ability
- STEM – learn about science and technology through exciting projects
- Global Solutions – Students will be encouraged to think about the world and the challenges we face such as climate change, sustainability, innovation, and equality, and come up with solutions to make our planet a better place. We want our students to think big and become ‘World Ready’.
Activity Programme and Excursions
Summer should be fun – and we balance our students’ academic programme of study with a wide range of activities and trips.
Students will be able to enjoy many of the excellent facilities available on the Downe House campus and will also be taken on excursions off-site.
- Sport: including swimming (in the School’s large heated pool), tennis, football, basketball, badminton, table-tennis
- Drama and the Creative Arts: we will make use of the School’s theatre and amazing art rooms
- Evening activities: a varied programme of fun activities including disco, games, amateur dramatics, movies and more
- Shopping: there will be opportunities for your child to shop for gifts and souvenirs – a great way to practice their English language skills!
- Cinema trip
Best of British
A unique feature of the Downe House Summer School is the ‘Best of British’ package of experiences. Your child will enjoy some very special trips which are sure to leave lasting memories:
- Sightseeing trip to London
- Day trip to Thorpe Park theme park
- Visit to Oxford University for a symposium on the Global economy
- Skills workshop with the British Army
- British High Tea – including plenty of cakes, sandwiches, and strawberries and cream!
