The workshop offered girls in the Lower Sixth an insight into the key aspects that employers are looking for from the personal experience of Downe House alumna, Jemima Atkins from Allianz Global Investors and Duncan Perry from Morgan Stanley.
Lily in the Lower Sixth reported on the workshop,
“It was really interesting to hear Jemima Atkins talk about what employers are looking for when they are reviewing CVs and I think it will prove very useful when I start applying for internships and jobs. We learnt about the importance of making an application clear, accurate, precise and relevant to maximise the chance of success.”
“Next on the workshop agenda was Duncan Perry from the investment bank, Morgan Stanley who presented the ‘Step In, Step Up’ programme which encourages young people to put themselves forward for investment banking opportunities. Mr Perry encouraged anyone interested to apply for the two-day Insight Programme they run specifically for girls which aims to inspire them about the sector. Both talks were extremely informative and I have no doubt that everyone now feels more prepared for the fictional job application event in which we will take part in the Summer term.”
The Higher Education programme is an intensive process which requires girls in the Sixth Form to actively prepare for university and as well as developing and refining the necessary skills for successful job applications in the years to come.
To enable girls to make informed decisions about their future, we have put in place a comprehensive higher education and careers guidance programme.
