We can’t wait to see what the girls come up with this year and how the Plath Society (Creative Writing Group) continues to flourish alongside the various events led by the girls.
Hello, my name is Lydia and I am one of the new Literary Seniors. I am thrilled to be working with Lilybee, the Library and the English Department to promote a love of reading throughout the school!
I hope to inspire, not only the further exploration of fiction and poetry but also non-fiction books, as there is such a wealth of information that is being overlooked due to negative stereotypes associated with them.
However, most significantly I hope to further spread the truth that reading is for everyone, regardless of their age or interests! As there are so many incredible forms and genres to discover!

Hello, My name is Lilybee and I’m so excited to be one of your Literary Seniors this year. Working alongside the Library and the English Department, I hope to help encourage people to read, and to show how it can be an enjoyable aspect of life and something which is just part of your day-to-day routine at Downe.
One of my aims this year is to show how literature isn’t just something we study- it’s something we live with, reflect through, and even escape into. I’d love to shine more of a spotlight on reading as something to do in your spare time rather than school work and the reason why so many people love it.
There’ll be regular blogs, creative projects, and plenty of recommendations coming your way- so whether you’re already a passionate reader or just don’t know where to start, I hope you’ll find something that speaks to you.
