A Downe House girl is an inspiring girl, and we are delighted to introduce you to some of our Leavers who have been key to our school community as leaders, mentors, performers, creatives, and innovators, and are now set to go out and make an impact on the world. 

INSPIRING GIRLS – ISABELA A 

From São Paulo to Berkshire, Isabela’s journey to Downe House began with a student exchange — but the experience made such an impression that she returned as a full boarder in Holcombe for Sixth Form.

Q&A 

What were you most involved in at school?
Dance! From the moment I arrived in Lower Sixth, I threw myself into it — competing in a dance competition and performing in Avatar, which was such a creative and exciting experience. 

What achievement are you most proud of?
Winning the House Music Ensemble competition for Holcombe. It was so special to contribute to something joyful and collaborative with my House. 

Who inspired you the most?
The Downe House alumnae. Hearing their career and life stories in assemblies showed me what’s possible beyond school and inspired me to think big. 

Favourite memory?
The everyday moments in York House — cooking with friends, karaoke nights, watching films. It’s the small moments that built lasting friendships. 

Best thing about Downe?
The people. The support and encouragement from friends and teachers make you feel like everyone genuinely wants you to succeed. 

What has Downe House given you?
The courage to say yes — to challenges, opportunities and leadership. It’s made me more confident and independent. 

Advice to a girl starting in September?
Dive in and enjoy it all — the more you give, the more you get back. 

Favourite DH meal?
Saturday pasta — always a highlight. 

If you could have a superpower?
To speak every language — it would make connecting with people and cultures around the world even more fun. 

Future plans?
To start my own business, combining innovation with impact to create meaningful opportunities.
