DH LINKS Professional Networking Event
Taking Control of your Career in a Rapidly Changing World

6 October 2022

We were delighted to bring together pupils, parents and alumnae to discuss the topic of ‘taking control of your career in a rapidly changing world’ at the DH LINKS professional networking event in London last week.

Twenty-five members of the Downe House community came together for an ‘In Conversation With’ event, held in London at Paddington Works. The evening was part of the DH LINKS event programme and featured five speakers, from a wide range of industries and stages of their careers, who formed a panel led by DH alumna Mary Beeton (DH 1993).

The panel consisted of:

Mary Beeton (DH 1993) – Head of Residential Sales & Residential Development at Hamptons

Daisy O’Reilly-Weinstock (DH 2000) – Director of Big Bets at Good Innovation

Hannah Goodyear (DH 2016) – Diversity and Inclusion Programme Associate at Natixis Investment Managers

Nellie Standbrook (DH 2018) – Real Assets Analyst at BlackRock

Cat Manson (Parent) – Global Communications Consultant

Topics discussed included setting goals, building a personal profile, getting the most from LinkedIn, being in control and accepting change, how to promote and draw on transferable skills and what new challenges do we face in the workplace today.

It was a fantastic evening of sharing and networking, with members of the audience contributing their own personal experiences as well as posing questions to the panel.

“Seeing our alumnae and current parents coming together to share careers advice and guidance has always been the main aim of the DH LINKS initiative and it was wonderful to see this inspiring group of women embracing a new format for our DH LINKS events with a panel discussion led masterfully by Mary and supported superbly by Hannah, Daisy, Nellie and Cat. It was particularly encouraging to welcome a number of our most recent leavers to the event and to hear their plans for the future.” -Mrs Alexandra Barlow (Director of External Relations)
