We are absolutely delighted for our Class of 2025 who received their A Level results today. The girls’ enthusiasm for learning and commitment to their studies have been rewarded with impressive results, leading them to secure their places at some of the world’s leading universities and institutions.
Our girls are heading to many of the UK’s top universities to study a remarkable breadth of courses, including Imperial (Physics); St Andrew’s (Medicine, Art History and Italian); Edinburgh (Biological Sciences, Business, Economics and Fine Art); Durham (Modern Languages and Business); Bristol (Business and Management); and Manchester (Liberal Arts).
In addition, a high number of students will be taking up places at prestigious institutions across the world, including McGill (Canada), University of Chicago, University of Michigan, Northwestern and University of Miami (US).
Overall, 22% of all our girls’ grades are at A*, 54% are A*-A and 83% A*-B. These percentages are expected to rise as remarks and adjustments are made.
A total of eight talented students achieved A*s across at least three of their A-level subjects. Three students achieved A* grades in four subjects: Isadora D will be heading to the University of Oxford to read History; Janice L has won a place to study Mechanical Engineering at Imperial; and Anna P will be reading Law at LSE.
At Downe House, we have a strong focus on preparing our students to be ‘world ready’, giving them the knowledge, and the skills and know-how to face their futures with confidence – and the Class of 2025 are now all set to do just that. We congratulate each and every student on their results and wish them well as they take their next steps beyond Downe House and join our global alumnae community.
Headmistress, Emma McKendrick praised the girls’ achievements: “We are delighted for all of our girls on their superb achievements today. Their unwavering determination to be the very best versions of themselves in all aspects of school life is admirable and should be celebrated. Today’s A Level results are testament to their resilience, focus and passion for learning; we wish them every success and happiness in their future endeavours, whatever path they have chosen to follow next.”
