It was wonderful to welcome two key members of the team, Amanda Narkiewicz, Deputy Head and Helen Booth, Deputy Head (Pastoral), from our sister school, Downe House Muscat, to Downe House (UK) at the end of the Summer term.

DH International is fully committed towards helping our sister schools build the Downe House DNA within their communities by helping with staff onboarding and academic, pastoral and co-curricular guidance via student and staff exchanges. Amanda and Helen spent a few busy days shadowing and learning from our leadership team members and heads of departments, along with visiting departments, classrooms and boarding houses meeting staff and girls.

During their last few days at Downe House, Amanda and Helen fully immersed themselves in the Downe House community of pupils, parents, staff and alumnae, experiencing the wonder and joy of the pupils’ achievements via the exhibitions, performances, sporting achievements and so much more that was on display across our Founder’s Weekend.

Thank you so much for hosting us at Downe House (UK). It was certainly enlightening to visit just prior to and stay just after Founder’s Weekend, as we were able to witnesses the talent, commitment and spirit of Downe House in all its glory. I personally feel that I am now more connected to what it means to be part of the Downe House community; there were many affirming experiences where I feel that we have already captured the essence of Downe House in Muscat and many more ideas to take away and implement in Oman that were on display over the four days we were in Cold Ash. Certainly, the connections and ideas that came out of the visit will be invaluable to my role in Muscat; I hope it is a long-lasting relationship and that we get to host you in our fair city sometime soon.

To commemorate the visit, Amanda and Helen gifted the School an Oman photography book and miniature model of Downe House Muscat school, to ensure their is always a part of Oman at Downe House.
