Collecting food for our local community

Our Harvest Festival gives us the opportunity to share our resources with those in need.

1 October 2023

At the beginning of October, each year, we hold our Downe House School Harvest Festival, led by our School Chaplain, Rev’d Platt.

It is a time to thank God and celebrate all that we have been given and then in turn share our resources with others in our local community who are in crisis and suffering financial hardship and food poverty.
– Reverend Anthea Platt, School Chaplain

A huge thanks to everyone for their generous support of the West Berks Food Bank.

Stock levels in the food bank warehouse are significantly lower than we have seen in the past and so our support of the charity has been particularly important this year.

Rosie Ginn, the School Manager of the West Berks Food Bank, came into talk in our Lower School chapel service.

Your 25 crates have been weighed and they totalled 288.7kgs, the equivalent of 606 meals for struggling West Berks residents. A fabulous total. Thank you so much for being such a brilliant supporter of our charity and for everything you do.
– Ms Rosie Ginn, School Manager, West Berks Food Bank
