Opened in September 2022, Downe House Muscat provides both Omani and international families with a premier, world-class, all-round education tailored just for girls on an impressive purpose-built campus.
Downe House’s first campus, outside of Europe, opened in September 2022 in Muscat, Oman. The school is the first premium British all-girls school in Oman and is housed in a purpose-built campus in Al Bandar, the west of Muscat. Downe House Muscat is a franchise agreement with the Oman Ministry of Defence Pension Fund. Downe House Cold Ash, the home school, is fully involved in all aspects of the education offered in Oman.

Oman’s first premium, British all-girls’ school
Downe House Muscat offers the Cambridge International Curriculum (CIC) which prepares girls for IGCSE and A Levels, blended with the Oman Ministry of Education’s curriculum for the teaching of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies. All teaching staff have UK-recognised teaching qualifications and teach their specialist subject in an extended day. This gives more time for girls to get involved in a wide range of co-curricular activities to discover their individual interests and talents beyond the classroom, helping to build character, teamworking skills, self-confidence and so much more.
The Muscat campus consists of four interconnected buildings providing state-of-the-art teaching facilities, a Performing Arts Centre with a stunning theatre as its centrepiece, a STEM Centre, an Art and Design Centre and a Sports Academy.

Mrs Scott, Founding Headmistress of Downe House Muscat
Mrs Michelle Scott, Founding Headmistress of Downe House School Muscat, has worked at Downe House UK for over twenty years. Since 2010, she has held the position of Assistant Headmistress and has a depth of knowledge about an all-girls environment that is rare to find. A key member of the Downe House community, Mrs Scott brings with her a commitment to integrating every aspect of the Downe House UK ethos into Downe House Muscat. She is incredibly well-placed to develop the connections and align the two sister schools.
