On 9 March, Downe House sent two teams to Stowe School to compete in the Da Vinci Decathlon, an international academic challenge designed to stretch and inspire students across ten disciplines including engineering, mathematics, science, English, ideation, cartography, art and poetry, code breaking, legacy and performance.
The UIV team, including Kira, Iris, Annie, Amber Y and Ada, worked together across the papers, dividing tasks and supporting each other. Kira (UIV) reflected,
My favourite part was working with the other Downe House girls as a team. It was so nice to be stretched academically and creatively and to make new connections. In the end, our year came third overall, with second place in categories such as English, engineering and cartography.
The LV team performed exceptionally well, taking first place overall and earning entry to the national finals in September. Zara (LV) was part of this victorious team, and the whole group demonstrated strong collaboration, resilience and leadership throughout the day.

In total, 15 additional girls from UIV and LV participated, embracing the challenge and representing Downe House with creativity, determination and teamwork. The event was an excellent opportunity to be stretched academically while applying problem solving, communication and creative thinking skills.
We are incredibly proud of both teams and wish the LV team the best of luck at the International Finals later this year.
