Global Exchange Students visit Shanghai

A recent addition to the Global Schools’ Exchange Programme is the YK PAO School on the outskirts of Shanghai, in China, which offered an exciting cultural and educational experience for Lower Fifth girls, Hilary and Vasilisa who spent two weeks at the international school in April 2019.

Global Exchange Students in the Netherlands  

Although it is the closest partner school in distance to Downe House, Dr Nassau College certainly offers a world of cultural differences and an opportunity to experience the rightfully famous Dutch hospitality. Lower Fifth girls, Tilly and Ayanfe travelled to Dr Nassau College in the city of Assen to spend a week immersed in Dutch life during the Easter holidays.

Stateside Exchange

Girls in the Lower Fifth are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding on their Global Exchange destination with 16 partner schools across six continents, but the lure of America is always strong! Charlotte and Hannah chose a girls’ boarding and day school, Stoneleigh-Burnham School, founded in 1869 and nestled in the beautiful Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts.

Going to school in the States attracted Alice and Maddi who chose to go to Westover School in Connecticut for their Global Schools’ Exchange Experience. They spent three weeks at Westover going to school and staying with their Exchange Buddy’s family at the weekends.

Out of the different countries on offer to the girls taking part in the Global Schools’ Exchange Programme, New Zealand is by far the furthest away in terms of flight time, but the option to attend the Waikato Diocesan School (known as Dio) in Hamilton is always a popular one.
