Global Exchange to South Africa

During the summer holidays, Fifth Form girls, Phoebe and India went on a Global Schools’ Exchange trip to Herschel Girls School in Cape Town, South Africa and spent four weeks going to school as day girls and living with their host families.

Global Exchange trip to India

Fifth Form girls were attracted to the unique sights and sounds of India when choosing a destination for their Global Schools’ Exchange trip during the summer holidays. Heloise and Louise chose to go to Mayo College Girls’ School which is located in Ajmer, one of the oldest cities in the north-western state of Rajhastan.

Global Exchange to Australia

The opportunity to live and learn in an Australian school was offered to girls in the Fifth Form as one of the trips on offer as part of the Global Schools’ Exchange Programme and Sophie and Tilly jumped at the chance to go to Methodist Ladies College (MLC) in Melbourne.

Durban Experience

For Antonia, Lolly and Bella, the highlight of the summer holidays was their Global Schools’ Exchange trip to Durban Girls’ College (DGC) in South Africa, a unique opportunity to travel independently and to spend time living and learning at one of Downe House’s 16 partner schools across six continents.

Australian Exchange Experience

As professional development opportunities go, a staff exchange with a school in Australia has to be an attractive proposition for anyone and Miss Kayleigh Anger, Head of Drama (Curriculum) jumped at the chance and set off for the Methodist Ladies College in Melbourne for three weeks during the summer holidays.

The biennial AGS House trip to Myanmar gave girls and staff the opportunity to meet the children that their fundraising efforts for their House Charity, Hope Asia are helping and to see the sights of this beautiful country.

Aisholt girls set off for India

A group of 17 girls from Aisholt House set off for India to visit their House charity, Reality Gives which they have supported with fundraising events throughout the year and to see the sights of the Golden Triangle.

Throughout the year, Holcombe House supports its House charity, Open Arms Malawi with fundraising events and the biennial House Trip to Malawi gave the girls the opportunity to see the work of the charity for themselves and to experience the country known as the ‘warm heart of Africa’.

Global Exchange Students visit Shanghai

A recent addition to the Global Schools’ Exchange Programme is the YK PAO School on the outskirts of Shanghai, in China, which offered an exciting cultural and educational experience for Lower Fifth girls, Hilary and Vasilisa who spent two weeks at the international school in April 2019.
