Welcome to Grimm Tales!

This collection of stories, adapted by Carol Ann Duffy and dramatised by Tim Supple, is an exploration of the classic fairytales penned by the Brothers Grimm.

The Lower School production will take the audience back to what theatre used to be like in the form of these 10-minute pieces. The production is site-specific, meaning that the plays are performed outside, as they once were back in Shakespearean times. The locations have been chosen specifically to match each production to keep the authenticity of the pieces, with limited use of technical elements and props to focus solely on the acting.

The pupils have collaborated on the different adaptations and have been working tirelessly in rehearsals to get to grips with the spooky tales. The girls should feel proud of all their efforts and hard work, as well as the directors who have been working with the pupils every week. I do hope that you enjoy these wonderful tales!

Directed by Miss Slaymark and Nibena Ben-Noi (UIV).

Each performance of Grimm Tales takes place at a different location in the Downe House grounds. Keep an eye on the big screen for our Pied-Pipers, who will guide you to each new destination in time for the next performance. The mischievous Pied-Pipers are here to aid your dramatic immersion as well as narrating each piece.
