Leavers’ Day 2019 a huge success!

Leavers, their parents and staff enjoyed a fabulous day of celebrations starting with their last ever assembly and a procession through the School led by a Scottish bagpiper and finishing with the Leavers' Ball held at the Westminster Boating Base in London.

Volunteering Day

‘Giving back’ is an integral strand of the Downe House ethos and the annual Volunteering Day gives Upper Fourth girls the opportunity to get out and about in our wider community to help out in schools, charities, conservation projects and churches as well as counting towards the Volunteer section of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

A truly fantastic Founder’s Weekend!

Bringing our community together and showcasing all that is special about Downe House are the overarching aims of Founder's Weekend and parents, brothers and grandparents, alumnae, staff and girls alike turned out in force to enjoy a whole variety of drama, dance and music performances, departmental displays, tennis, archery, climbing, dog agility, wellbeing activities to name but a few.

A History of Woodwind

This term's Junior Medley Lecture in June was delivered by the wonderful musician and composer, Richard Harvey. In a little over one hour, Richard enthralled our girls as he guided us through a history of woodwind - spanning 20 centuries - and played just a few of his collection of 800+ instruments.

Upper Fourth goes to Wimbledon

Ever since Upper Fourth girl, Ella first hit a ball, she has dreamed of playing tennis at Wimbledon, one of the most prestigious tennis clubs in the world, and her dream came true when she received an invitation to join a junior tennis event being held at Wimbledon on 8 June 2019.
