We are absolutely delighted for our Class of 2026 who received their A Level results today. The girls’ enthusiasm for learning and commitment to their studies have been rewarded with impressive results, leading them to secure their places at some of the world’s leading universities and institutions.
Overall, 22% of all our girls’ grades are at A*, 60% are A* or A and 85% A* to B. These percentages are expected to rise as remarks and adjustments are made.
Two girls achieved an outstanding 4 or more A* grades (including EPQ), including Joline, who is absolutely delighted to be taking her place to study Medicine at Oxford alongside Liberty who will read Chemistry at Oxford. Gaining 3 A* grades are Mia who heads to Edinburgh to read Business Management and Amelia who a place at Durham for Geography.
With their places secured at some of the world’s leading universities and institutions, our 2026 leavers have exciting futures ahead. Many girls will now go on to study at top UK universities, with a remarkable breadth of courses covered, including Medicine, History, Computer Science and Philosophy, Fine Art and Chemistry at Oxford; Geography at Cambridge; International Relations at St Andrews; Business Management and Engineering at Edinburgh; PPE at Warwick; Physics at Durham and Law at UCL.
Twelve girls will be taking up their places at prestigious institutions in North America including Georgetown, Boston College, UCSD, NYU and McGill. Three girls have places at IE in Madrid, including Ella who was also awarded a ‘Women in STEM’ scholarship.
Downe also has its first student entering a degree apprenticeship, with Ivie joining IBM as a Technology Degree Apprentice. Demonstrating the strength of Arts subjects at Downe House, outstanding musician Angelina will be taking up her place at the prestigious Royal College of Music and several students will also be starting on Art Foundation courses.
At Downe House, we have a strong focus on preparing our students to be ‘world ready’, giving them the knowledge, skills and know-how to face their futures with confidence – and the Class of 2026 are now all set to do just that. We congratulate each and every student on their results and wish them well as they take their next steps beyond Downe House and join our global alumnae community.
