On Saturday, 2nd February the U14 XII Lacrosse team journeyed to St. Swithun’s for the South West Rally. The day was bright and dry, but bitterly cold. We were pleased to welcome 5 new members as eight of the regular team were away playing in the Regional Netball Finals.
The U14s played against and beat Sherborne, St Bartholomew’s and Rendcomb College, but were beaten 0-3 by St. Swithun’s. They were placed second in their section which placed them in the Premier Division for the afternoon’s tournament. They beat St Mary’s, Calne, and Cheltenham Ladies’ College, drew with Godolphin and lost to Malvern St. James and St. Swithun’s (the eventual tournament winners) but this time the score-line was 0-1. The team was both surprised and delighted to be placed Runners Up in theTournament. All credit to the goal keeper, Miranda Bird, who was voted “Man of the Match”. She went from strength to strength during the day and stopped some amazing shots on goal to ultimately put the team into second place and silver medal position.
