On Thursday, 22 March, Downe House hosted three local schools (The Abbey, Kennet and St. Gabriels’) at a Hockey Festival with Great Britain Hockey star, Rob Moore, as guest of honour.
The visit comes as part of a nationwide programme which will see British Olympic hockey players visit events involving more than 450 secondary schools over the next two months
Emma McKendrick, the Headmistress, said, “Our School has been planning something special for the summer to celebrate with Team GB and their Games in London and we’re so thrilled that Rob was able to spend time to talk to some of our aspiring hockey players at our Hockey Festival on Thursday.”
All of the girls have had a great time on such a beautifully warm and pleasant afternoon out on the pitch. Around 100 girls were involved and everyone went away happy with a little gift from England Hockey.
