It has become a tradition that at the end of the Lent term, Downe undergoes a transformation for the day. As observed by a recent prospective parent “Harry Potter is very important to Downe Girls”.
Consequently it was the obvious choice for this year’s theme day. This began before half term with each girl receiving her very own Hogwarts acceptance letter. The day itself saw a fabulous array of costumes, with everything from phoenixes to howlers being represented. Each House had been appointed a house earlier in the week by the sorting hat in assembly. This enabled us to have our very own Quidditch House cup during the games lessons.
We managed to raise around £150 for the Gingerbread charity, which J K Rowling is President of, through our cake sale. The day finished with a whole school viewing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
