China week at Cheam

Last week a group LV girls showed off their linguistic talents by teaching local pre-prep children Mandarin.

The 8 girls, all studying the language for GCSE, took part in China week at Cheam School in Headley. They performed mini Chinese master classes which introduced the children to Chinese expressions and counting.

They also taught the children some Far Eastern nursery rhymes, some more familiar than others. By the end of the morning all the children were singing the classic French nursery rhyme Frère Jacques in Mandarin!

The girls loved interacting with the children and sharing their enthusiasm for the language and culture. They have asked if they can go back again next year and perform in another language. So which one shall it be?
