On Wednesday, 14 June, a selection of Eton boys came to Downe House for an evening of debating.
Honor writes "We started out by being split into several small groups for some warm up debates on the fitting issue of the morals of steroids and their impact on the Olympic Games and sporting achievements.
Later on, while the main debaters of the evening were preparing for their speeches, we had some interesting entertainment on how best to spend £100: a unanimous vote that to buy 1000 fredos would, of course, be best, being the outcome.
Finally, the climax of the evening arrived with the main debate: “Our monarchy is outdated and should be abolished”. It resulted with the proposition team winning, although perhaps due to the boys’ fear that should the monarchy be abolished Kate would have to go too. We then had supper with the boys in the main Dining Room, which was really nice. Overall, it was both a successful and interesting evening and very enjoyable for all."
