Downe House took six girls to Flaine to ski in the British Schoolgirls' Races in January. 'A' Team Emma Poole (Capt), Katarina Huth, Araminta Robertson and 'B' Team Catherine Yung (Capt), Lara Kary, Alix Archambeau.

The girls were up early for training on the Saturday and Sunday and worked hard on their technique with their instructor. On the Monday and Tuesday they raced. Last year’s Bronze medallist, Emma Poole, who has trained hard throughout the year in Verbier, managed to ski to victory.

She skied her first run in the Giant Slalom in a time of 1.03.36 and improved this in her second run 1.01.52 giving a combined time of 2.05.28 with which she secured a Gold Medal in the U14/U16 section for the unregistered skiers.
