Downe House U14 team placed 3rd in their section in the South Regional Netball Tournament at High Wycombe on Saturday, 2 February. It was the first time the U14s had qualified for the event since 2004 in which the top two schools from Berks, Guernsey, Hants, the Isle of Wight, North Bucks, Oxfordshire, South Bucks and Sussex compete for two places in the National Finals.
Their first match was against rivals Wycombe Abbey. With some excellent shooting from the attack they finished with a draw. This was followed by two good wins, however they were defeated by Portsmouth Grammar, the team that later went on to win the tournament. Their last match was against St Helen’s and St Katharine’s. Looking dominant from the start, they secured a win by two goals. Overall it was an extremely successful day, with Downe House achieving 5th place overall, unfortunately not qualifying for nationals but still gaining a lot of experience and everyone playing their best. Well done girls!
