Once again Downe House proves that taking examinations early is not a recipe for failure. Nineteen Lower Fifth girls all gained A* in their recent GCSE French examination.
It is worth celebrating even more because almost all of them added one or more grades to what was expected of them in terms of 'Value Added'. Value added is a measure of the progress students make between different stages of education.
7 added 2 grades in value
1 added 3 grades in value
10 added 1 grade
Many were in sight of the full 300 UMS available - Sophie Ordish 299, Livia Russell – 298, Clare Maunder – 297, Amina Hamman – 297 and Sarah Creedy-Smith 299. Special congratulations as well to June Eric-Udorie who scored A* for French and Spanish both taken a year early.
Thanks to Mme Westacott who guided them so well to such great results.
