On Thursday, 24 November four Lower Fifth girls went to London to support an awareness event for education in Afghanistan, with Afghan Connection, which builds and supports schools in Afghanistan.
The day was linked to the Millennium Developments Goal 2, for Universal Primary Education by 2020. The day consisted of talks, exhibitions and film shows. The morning events were at St Martins in the Fields and afternoon events were in the House of Commons.
The talks were by a number of people involved in Afghan affairs: Baroness D’Souza, Rory Stewart MP, Geoffrey Clifton Brown and Alan Duncan, who is the Minister of State for International Development.
The day was very interesting and very touching. The visit to Parliament was captivating, and the morning lecture was heartfelt and inspirational. Overall the day was thoroughly enjoyable and educational.
