Sixth Form student Kathryn Gamble will fulfil her dream of studying History and German at a world class university having achieved outstanding results in the recent examinations.
Despite the national decline in students opting to study German in the Sixth Form, Kathryn has excelled by gaining a D2 (Distinction 2) in the international Cambridge Pre-U qualification. A D2 grade exceeds the traditional A* and puts Kathryn's achievements amongst the top ranking students in the UK and around the world.
Kathryn also achieved D2 grades in History and Mathematics and a D3 grade (A grade equivalent) in English Literature.
Modern Foreign Languages continues to be one of the most popular and successful subject areas at Downe House with many Sixth Form girls opting to continue their linguistic studies at university.
Our girls recognise the value of languages as they think about forging careers in the global marketplace.
Kathryn will take up her place at Oxford University in September. We wish her every success in her future studies.
