The exciting news after half term was that both Junior and Intermediate Athletics teams had qualified to the Regional Finals in the South West.

The Juniors had qualified to the Junior B Final at Basingstoke and the Inters to the Regional A Final at Millfield. This is a national competition where each of the selected 12 girls have to do a track and a field event. This means your throwers have to be able to run and vice versa. 4 of the team can do the relay but it is very difficult to decide who does what. Each result is allocated points and the position you come in your event has no bearing on the points. Millfield win the Inter Girls competition nearly every year!

The teams did really well. The Juniors were placed 2nd overall in the B Final and scored 30 more points this time round. The Inters came 6th at Millfield with one of the top 3 scores we have had at Downe. Adetoun Karunwi broke the Shot Inter School record, so well done to her and all who took part.
