Bobby Chen gives recital

On Friday 27th January, Music Matters hosted a recital by the internationally acclaimed Malaysian pianist, Bobby Chen.

Mr Chen, who studied at both the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal Academy of Music and who has performed in international concert halls with some of the world’s top orchestras, played music by Haydn, Chopin, Zhang Zhou and Stravinsky.

The audience, comprising mostly of girls with some staff and friends, enjoyed a thrilling evening. The beauty of Bobby Chen’s tone in the Chopin Nocturnes Opus 27 and Fantaisie, as well as his masterful technique in the Three Movements from Petrouchka made for a truly beautiful recital. The inclusion of some interesting and characterful pieces by Zhang Zhou provided us with some fascinating contrasts in style.
