Girl's Eye View: Lower School
There are loads of activities to keep you busy. We have had trips to Paulton’s Theme Park and Cadbury’s World, the fireworks, the Aquadrome, and Warwick Castle. We’re all really looking forward to the Dance Showcase and Founder’s Weekend, too. At the end of term we are going to Calshot Activities Centre for a few days to do climbing, canoeing, sailing and lots of other activities. If music is your thing then Downe House is the place for you. You can have all kinds of instrumental or voice lessons, as well as orchestras, choirs, and lots of opportunities to perform. Eleanor Campbell (Pembridge Hall)
The school day is quite long. We have 11 lessons but with lots of breaks and an hour for lunch. The teachers are really supportive and we’ve enjoyed starting new subjects. I particularly like being able to do all the sciences separately, because we get to do loads of experiments. In the mornings we go to our Tutor Group when we can do prep and ask our Tutor about anything we are struggling with. Anna Hewitt (The Marist Prep School)
I have really enjoyed my first year at Downe House. I have learnt a new sport, two new languages and I have experienced boarding for the first time. Learning lacrosse has been one of the highlights of the year. I had never played it before so I didn’t know what to expect but it is now one of my favourite sports and I am looking forward to playing again next term. My favourite thing this year has been boarding and I have really enjoyed spending time in the evenings and at the weekends with all my new friends. Jessica Pemberton (Chesham Prep) |
