We aim to take every girl in our care
on an incredible journey through some of the most important
years of her life so that she leaves feeling that there
is nothing that she cannot achieve. There is no doubt
that these years are hard work but they can be enormous
fun and extremely fulfilling too.
Why is boarding important?
As a boarding community, we have two of the most highly
prized commodities: time and space. This enables a wide
range of opportunities to be provided for girls inside
and outside the classroom. They are able to explore
subjects through enrichment outside the classroom as
well as within it and a rich and varied programme of
other extra-curricular activities helps to stimulate
girls to achieve in areas they might not have considered.
Living in a large 'family' means girls can learn some
of the most important life skills of tolerance, independence,
teamwork and good communication. They learn both from
each other and the adults around them too.
Why girls only?
Being a single-sex environment means the needs of girls
are put firmly at the forefront without, of course,
excluding them from regular opportunities to meet and
work with boys. We want girls to exceed their expectations
of themselves and so teaching is geared appropriately
to their needs; they have equal access to all curriculum
subjects and they take on all the leadership roles within
the school community.
Some important background information
The School has grown to its optimum size of approximately
550 pupils, a size which enables us to maintain a broad
range of opportunities without losing a personal approach.
People are at the heart of every thing we do. It enjoys
a beautiful location on 110 acre woodland site close
to the M4/A34 axis. A constant process of review, reflection,
monitoring and assessment means that the School does
not stand still.
